Students of Peace Public School Build Driverless Car

Kottakkal: It may seem surprising that major companies are launching driverless cars, but here in Kottakkal, two talented 10th-grade students from Peace Public School—Fazal Rabeeh and U. Shanib—have developed their own driverless car.

The duo built the car using advanced artificial intelligence and robotics technologies as part of their school's digital festival. This vehicle can be controlled through approximately sixteen voice commands using a mobile phone. Voice commands can operate the car's movement—forward and backward—and manage all electrical components, including lights. Notably, the car's sensors automatically detect obstacles, ensuring safe braking when people are nearby. The vehicle can also be controlled via a remote controller or driven manually.

The model car was created by purchasing parts from a decommissioned Alto car at a polymarket and installing an electric engine, with a total cost of three lakh rupees. It can reach a speed of 25 kilometers per hour.

Fazal Rabeeh is the son of K.T. Rabeehullah, a renowned expatriate businessman from East Kodur. U. Shanib is the son of U. Ibrahim, a resident of the same locality. The two students have earned the opportunity to participate in the International Digital Festival in the UAE, scheduled for February 10.
