peace public school thrives in green excellence

SEED Club’s Role in Transforming the Campus
The dedicated efforts of students, teachers, and non-teaching staff under the leadership of the SEED Club have transformed the Peace Public School campus into a lush green haven. The rows of palm trees standing tall add beauty and shade to the school grounds. By utilizing barren spaces for gardens and agriculture, the SEED Club has successfully created an environmentally vibrant campus. The initiative is a model for environmental conservation, inspiring awareness across the community.
A Tree for Tomorrow Initiative
In connection with World Environment Day, the school launched the “A Tree for Tomorrow” project with the theme “Preventing Drought and Desertification by Enriching Soil Fertility.” Two student representatives from each of the 31 classes, from Grade 1 to 10, were given saplings. These saplings were to be planted and nurtured at home under parental guidance. Class teachers were assigned to monitor the students’ progress. The project, inaugurated by Principal M. Jouhar, saw remarkable success, with students actively planting and nurturing trees.

Fostering Agricultural Awareness Through SEED Club
The SEED Club has also introduced an organic farming initiative, encouraging students to grow pesticide-free vegetables. This effort was spearheaded by the collaboration of students, teachers, and non-teaching staff. The program effectively connects the younger generation with the soil and agriculture. Crops like beans and cucumbers were harvested first, marking a promising start. The SEED members extended this initiative to their homes, cultivating vegetables like beans, cucumbers, chilies, pumpkins, eggplants, spinach, and bitter gourds.
Mushroom Farming: A Path to Sustainable Agriculture
Under the guidance of the SEED Club, students received training in mushroom farming and its benefits. Expert farmers, Mr. Manoj and Mrs. Deepa from Ramanattukara, conducted hands-on training sessions for students. As part of this initiative, mushroom farming was started in 15 grow bags on the campus. The first harvest was a resounding success, and Principal M. Jouhar inaugurated the event. This initiative instilled both environmental awareness and agricultural skills among students.

Connecting with Nature: Rain Walk for Primary Students
The SEED Club organized a rain walk for primary students, titled “Discover the Monsoon.” The activity aimed to help students experience and understand the natural changes brought by rain and the impact it has on living beings. Principal M. Jouhar shared a motivational message during the event.
Measuring the Rain: Construction of a Rain Gauge
Mathrubhumi SEED Club members constructed a rain gauge to measure rainfall.
They recorded the amount of rain falling at their homes and school, compared the data, and analyzed it. This process helped identify variations in rainfall, marking a significant success for the club’s experiment. This initiative reflects the members’ commitment to the environment and their scientific mindset.
SEED Club Repurposes Waste Plastics
As part of the SEED Love Plastic project at Kottakkal Peace Public School, students creatively transformed discarded plastic items into handicrafts and decorative objects. They used plastic bottles, covers, bottle caps, and empty jars to create these items. Notably, plastic covers were melted and shaped into various solid forms, showcasing an innovative approach to repurposing waste materials.

Club Visits Ability Foundation on Disability Day
On December 3, International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Nallappadam Club organized a visit to Pulikkal Ability Foundation. Students observed how individuals with mental, visual, and hearing disabilities overcome challenges and engage in skilled craftsmanship to earn a livelihood. The visit was an eye-opening experience for the students, inspiring compassion and understanding. As a token of support, the Nallapadam Club donated INR 6,000 and essential food supplies to the foundation, which were handed over to Chairman K. Ahmed Kutty.
“Santhwanam” Fund for Palliative Care
In observance of Palliative Care Day on January 15, the SEED Club collected a generous fund of INR 90,755 through contributions from students and teachers. The fund was distributed equally between the Othukkungal Palliative Care Society and the “Kanivu” Palliative Care Center in Kottakkal, providing much-needed support to their noble causes.
