From Muddy Fields to Dinner Plates: Lessons from Peace Njattuvela

Let Them Know the Journey of Food – Peace Njattuvela 2024
This experience was nothing short of a wonder, sparking curiosity in the hearts of many. Rice, the centerpiece of every Malayali’s dinner table, never loses its charm, no matter how often it’s served. But before it graces our plates or reaches our homes, it undergoes a journey of immense effort and dedication. As the saying goes, “Only when you understand the greatness of labor can you truly value the food you eat.” True knowledge comes from experience, and Peace Njattuvela offered children a chance to witness this firsthand.
Wading knee-deep through mud, the students experienced the struggles and triumphs of a farmer’s life. The sight of bulls pulling ploughs sparked wonder, and their hands-on moments—touching the bulls, holding their tails, and even dancing and singing alongside women farmers—brought them closer to the soul of agriculture.
The event was enriched by the presence of Peace School’s Principal, Jouhar Sir; Vice Principal, Smita Ma’am; teachers; non-teaching staff; and other members of the Peace family. A highlight of the day was the participation of the school chairman,Doctor Kabeer, and his family, whose warmth added a special charm to the occasion. Paying tribute to the farmers who sustain our nation further underscored the day’s significance.
This memorable day was not just an event but a journey back to our roots. It reminded us of the importance of reviving our agricultural heritage, cultivating what we consume, and ensuring our children grow up with healthy, toxin-free food. Through Peace Njattuvela, the students gained invaluable lessons, carrying forward a handful of memories and a newfound respect for the hands that feed us.
