Teen Inventor from Kottakkal Transforms Everyday Challenges
At just 14 years old, Riza Mohammed, a class 10 student at Peace Public School, Kottakkal, has proven that innovation has no age limit. With a keen interest in technology, Riza has developed groundbreaking solutions to everyday problems, making him a standout young inventor.
Smart Coin Counting Made Easy
Riza's most notable creation is software that can count small coins using a webcam. Simply placing coins in front of the camera without any contact allows the program to instantly display the total value on the screen. The software distinguishes coins based on their size, color, and other characteristics. Though currently a prototype, Riza aims to enhance it for counting large quantities of coins.
Smart Glasses for the Visually Impaired
Another of Riza’s creations is a pair of ‘smart glasses’ designed to assist the visually impaired. Equipped with an ultrasonic sensor, the glasses detect obstacles and alert the user through sound and vibrations. This feature ensures that even those with hearing impairments can benefit.
A Young Innovator's Impressive Portfolio
Riza’s talent doesn’t end there. He has also developed:
A voice-controlled toy car.
An automatic robot for floor cleaning.
A drawing app powered by artificial intelligence.
A smart coffee machine.
A digital version of the classic "Rock, Paper, Scissors" game.
Recognized on Prestigious Platforms,
Riza’s innovative ideas have earned him recognition on major platforms:
Won first place in the All Kerala Inter-School Robot Championship Season One, held at Kochi Metro.
Secured second place at the International Digital Fest at Habitat School, UAE, in the same month.
Previously won the 2021 Global Cyber Square Digital Fest.
Riza has also had the honor of presenting his inventions to dignitaries, including Ministers K. Radhakrishnan, R. Bindu, V. Abdurahman, and Industrial Development Corporation Director M.G. Rajamanikyan.
Riza is the son of Muhammad Riyaz, a petroleum engineer in Soupy Bazaar, Dubai, and T.K. Fahima, a teacher at Farooq College, Kottakkal. His brother, Ruzain Muhammad, is also part of the family
